Healing

Calm and emotional healing, in natural tuning

Called Healing in Essence. Not a solfeggio tone but an alternative tuning: most modern music is tuned so that A = 440 Hz, and 432 Hz is the gentler-sounding rival many people find soothing. Listen free below, as a pure tone or as calming music.

What 432 Hz is traditionally used for

  • Calm and emotional healing
  • Quiet background for reading or rest
  • An alternative to standard 440 Hz tuning

These associations come from sound-healing practice, not clinical research.

Quick listening tips

Let it play quietly in the background while you read, stretch or wind down.

  • Keep the volume low, just loud enough to notice.
  • Five minutes is a good start; ten to thirty is plenty. Stop if you feel any discomfort.
  • Switch to Calming music and turn on the breathing guide for a gentler version.

What is 432 Hz?

432 Hz is not part of the solfeggio list. It is a tuning: most modern music is tuned so that the A above middle C is 440 Hz, and tuning that note to 432 Hz instead lowers every note slightly. Fans of 432 Hz say it sounds warmer and more relaxed. In the Essence app it is called Healing, for the emotional kind: calm, comfort and a softer mood.

Why people use 432 Hz for calm

432 Hz is the easiest frequency on this site to leave on in the background. It is gentle, neither low nor bright, and suits reading, stretching, journaling or winding down in the evening. It is also the base of the Slow Breath calming music session.

You will find claims that 432 Hz is in tune with nature or the universe. Those claims are not supported by physics, and the few studies comparing 432 Hz with 440 Hz music are small. Treat it as a matter of taste: if it sounds softer to you, that is reason enough to use it.

A 5-minute evening wind-down with 432 Hz

  1. Dim the lights, switch to Calming music and press play.
  2. Turn on the breathing guide and breathe in for 4, out for 6.
  3. Let one part of the day go with each breath out: a conversation, a task, a worry.
  4. Stop following the guide once your breathing feels easy, and just listen.
  5. Sit for one more minute when the session ends, before you pick up your phone.
